SUMMARY:DTVP Plugfest & HbbTV Testing Event 2026
DESCRIPTION:Deutsche TV-Plattform is pleased to continue its successful Plugfest series in cooperation with DTG UK and the HbbTV Association in 2026. We are delighted to invite you to DTVP Plugfest Berlin 2026\, which will take place from 12 to 14 October 2026 at Fraunhofer FOKUS in Berlin. Immediately following the Plugfest\, the HbbTV Testing Event organised by the HbbTV Association will take place from 14 to 16 October 2026. \nThe test focus of our Plugfest this time is again on HbbTV\, streaming\, immersive audio and DVB-I\, as well as traditionally on UHD-HDR tests (HDMI®). As always\, it is aimed at device manufacturers\, broadcasters\, technology providers\, platform operators\, research and development institutions and standardisation bodies. \nPlease note that participation requires prior registration and the signing of the Participant Agreement (NDA)\, which ensures strict confidentiality. In this context\, we would like to inform you that HbbTV-related Plugfest results will be shared with the HbbTV Association in anonymised form. \n\n*     DTVP/DTG/HbbTV members: free\, non-members: entry-fee\n**   HbbTV members only\, no fee\n*** HbbTV Testing Group members only \nPlease register for participation via the online registration form:\nPlugfest 2026: Registration \nThis year\, registration will be conducted entirely through the online registration form. All required information will be collected digitally as part of the registration process. The Participant Agreement (NDA)\, which will be made available to you during the registration process\, is the only document that must be downloaded\, signed and returned via email. \nPlease send the signed Participant Agreement by email to plugfest@tv-plattform.de no later than the registration deadline (11 September 2026). \nThe online form guides you through the registration process step by step and does not need to be completed in a single session. \nAll information entered is securely saved\, allowing you to return to the form and continue your registration at any time. If certain information is not yet available (for example\, details regarding planned test activities)\, you may update and complete your registration at a later stage up until the registration deadline. \nPlease note: registration requires active participation in the event. DESCRIPTION:The 14th HbbTV Symposium and Awards on 18-19 November 2026 in Barcelona\, Spain\, provides a unique platform to present and discuss the latest developments in the connected TV industry. The event takes place at the Catalonia Barcelona Plaza Hotel\, a four-star hotel offering first-class conference and accommodation facilities\, located at Plaza España\, one of the epicentres of the Catalan capital. \nThe 2026 Symposium is hosted by the HbbTV Association and 3Cat\, Catalonia’s public media corporation. With a track record of more than 40 years\, 3Cat is an industry leader thanks to a crosscutting offering that integrates television\, radio and digital content on the 3Cat platform. \nThe Symposium targets a wide-ranging audience\, including platform operators\, broadcasters\, advertisers\, adtech companies\, standards bodies\, regulators and technology vendors. A central theme at this year’s conference will be HbbTV’s role as a unifying framework in an increasingly fragmented connected TV (CTV) landscape\, where broadcasters must navigate a multitude of operating systems and device environments. \nThe agenda will also explore how HbbTV-based audience measurement can enhance traditional panel systems by providing more granular\, data-driven and even real-time insights\, supporting broadcasters’ need for accurate and scalable analytics. Further sessions will highlight the latest developments in addressable advertising and examine HbbTV’s growing adoption in new markets\, with the MENA region and Asian countries now embracing the open standard. \nThe programme will also feature sessions on accessibility\, natural-language interfaces powered by AI\, and the collaborative potential of HbbTV as a shared framework for broadcasters\, technology providers\, and manufacturers. Emerging audiovisual experiences will also be explored\, including deep personalisation through AI\, gaming on connected TV platforms\, second screen and XR-enhanced content\, and new forms of interactive viewer engagement. \nThe HbbTV Symposium and Awards 2026 continues the successful two-day format established in previous years. The first day will offer a traditional conference setting\, featuring keynotes\, presentations\, panel discussions\, and roundtables. Leading industry experts and executives will present\, showcase\, and discuss the latest developments\, innovations\, and use cases. \nOn the second day\, the event will adopt an unconference format. Attendees will actively shape the agenda\, proposing topics and leading breakout discussions in a collaborative and informal environment. This format enables open dialogue and creative exchange\, providing a unique opportunity to explore real-world challenges and share practical solutions\, whether technical or business related. \nA highlight of the event will be the prestigious HbbTV Awards ceremony\, taking place in the evening of the first day.
