DESCRIPTION:This online workshop is organised by the DVB Project and the 5G Media Action Group in collaboration with the DASH Industry Forum\, CTA WAVE and the HbbTV Association. It is open to anyone with an interest in open-source reference tools for use in the context of media applications. Currently he is in charge of DVB Broadcast products and testing and certification services for DVB\, HbbTV and Smart TV apps and solutions at Sofia Digital. \nMark Riley: Video Streaming Architect at Digital UK. 30 years experience as part of the audio/video streaming industry. Software development background\, specialising in audio/video driver development\, now focusing more on content playback for embedded consumer devices and the implications for the end-to-end architecture. He has worked on various HbbTV projects and\, since 2019\, on the specification\, launch and development of the HD+ Operator Application on various platforms. \nChris Poole leads a media streaming and connected TV research team at BBC R&D. He represents the BBC in several HbbTV groups and has been one of the main contributors to the new HbbTV Operator Application specification. \nJames Jackson is the Director of Technical Strategy at Everyone TV where he is responsible for the technical architecture supporting the Freeview and Freesat television platforms. His work has included leading the technical development and operation of the Freeview Play service since 2016 to build the world’s largest HbbTV platform and his current role in ensuring the technical design and delivery of the UK’s new Freely TV service. \nJeff Hunter is the Chief Architect at YouView TV Limited\, having helped to set up the business in 2010. DESCRIPTION:The Digital TV Group (DTG) and Deutsche TV-Plattform (DTVP) are delighted to announce their joint International Plugfest 2024 in cooperation with the HbbTV Association. This week-long event will include the HbbTV Testing event. \nThe 14th edition of the Plugfest will take place from Monday\, February 26\, to Wednesday\, February 28\, at the DTG offices in London\, UK. From February 28 to Friday\, March 1\, the DTG and DTVP will be hosting the HbbTV Testing Event and Testing Group meeting. \nThe established joint Plugfests provide a fantastic\, controlled platform for all participants to collaborate towards achieving interoperability and delivering an excellent user experience. \nInteroperability tests cover cutting-edge technologies such as UHD-4K/8K\, HDR\, HFR\, NGA\, HbbTV\, DVB-I and HDMI (2.0/2.1a/2.1b) interoperability with sources (STBs/streaming devices\, Sound bars\, AVRs\, laptops\, encoders) and sinks (TVs\, Projectors\, Display Monitors etc). \nThe Plugfest is open to all companies interested in testing/validating their AV products/software/content/apps interoperability & compatibility with others’ implementations. Participants include TV device manufacturers\, broadcasters\, technology providers\, platform operators\, encoder providers\, test equipment manufacturers\, research & development institutions\, standardisation bodies as well as HbbTV app\, HbbTV OpApp and DVB-I client developers. \nDate: February 26-28\, 2024 \nVenue: DTG\, 5th Floor\, 89 Albert Embankment\, London SE1 7TP\, UK \nWho: Free for all DTG\, DTVP & HbbTV members. The Testing Event is open to HbbTV members only. \nIt provides an opportunity for the HbbTV implementers to execute tests on their devices and log those executions as part of the evidence required to approve test cases for the HbbTV Test Suite v2024-1 release. The representatives of test material providers will be available to discuss problems found with either the test material or implementation. The Testing Event participants will have temporary access to the test harness\, necessary for executing the test cases at the event. He has been a contributor to several HbbTV groups and is currently vice-chair of the HbbTV Testing Group. \nJason Nash is General Manager for TV at Ocean Blue Software (OBS). He has 25 years of experience in the TV and set-top box industry with companies including Philips\, Trident\, IP4\, EKT\, and now OBS. At OBS Jason has overseen projects to develop an open source HbbTV solution for OEMS (The Open Red Button project – ORB) and provided several contributions to the HbbTV Test Suite\, the most recent being for 2.0.4 features such as DVB-I and accessibility. \nJuha Joki has over 20 years of experience in DVB and HbbTV technologies. Currently he is in charge of DVB broadcast products and testing and certification services for DVB and HbbTV at Sofia Digital. He has also overseen the HbbTV DASH DRM and DVB-I Reference Application projects at Sofia Digital\, and is currently working with DVB-I and Operator App related projects. Juha also led the HbbTV 2.0.4 Test Materials delivery project at Sofia Digital. \nNguyen Thi Thanh Van is Head of DTV Standardization & Innovation at Samsung R&D Poland\, where she is involved with new technology projects.
