SUMMARY:Deploying new developments in DASH - hardware-based DRM\, multiple Periods and more
DESCRIPTION:Recent developments relating to DASH include US content provider requirements to use hardware-based DRM such as Play Ready SL3000 and server-side ad insertion\, which in turn may result in DASH content with multiple Periods rather than just one Period throughout as is most current practice. \nThree organisations that have been working on these topics in the context of HbbTV share their experiences. His main area of expertise includes adaptive bitrate (ABR) streaming focusing on MPEG-DASH\, Digital Rights Management (DRM)\, 5G media streaming and video-encoding. Daniel is actively contributing to standardisation work done in DASH-IF and CTA-WAVE. \nLouay Bassbouss: Scientist and senior project manager R&D at Fraunhofer FOKUS. He works on Future Web Applications\, Multiscreen Technologies & Standards\, and 5G Media Streaming. Louay actively participates in various standardisation groups in W3C\, HbbTV and CTA. He is the co-chair of the W3C Second Screen Working and Community Groups. Louay also teaches at the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin) in the field of Open Distributed Systems and Advanced Web Technologies. \nJuha Joki has many years’ experience in DVB and HbbTV technologies. Currently he is in charge of DVB Broadcast products and testing and certification services for DVB\, HbbTV and Smart TV apps and solutions at Sofia Digital. \nMark Riley: Video Streaming Architect at Digital UK. 30 years experience as part of the audio/video streaming industry. Software development background\, specialising in audio/video driver development\, now focusing more on content playback for embedded consumer devices and the implications for the end-to-end architecture. Worked for many UK based companies including NDS\, Canal+\, Pace\, YouView\, Sky etc. Currently\, working as part of the Digital UK tech team\, focusing on prototyping\, specifying\, testing and debugging DASH and DRM features for and with the various TV manufacturers and content providers\, e.g. BBC\, ITV\, CH4\, CH5\, UKTV etc. \nA recording of the 1-hour webinar is available on our YouTube channel.
