SUMMARY:Ultra HD services via HbbTV
DESCRIPTION:The webinar shows how the HbbTV standard can be used to offer Ultra HD (UHD) services\, both via DVB broadcast and IP streaming solutions. An introduction to the integration of UHD into the HbbTV specifications\, HDR support and codec options\, is followed by best practice examples and experiences\, a focus on technical aspects and challenges. The webinar includes a Q&A session with the speakers after the presentations. \nPresenters\nKlaus Merkel\, Senior Engineer\, Distribution\, rbb/ARD\nStephen Perrott\, Senior R&D Engineer\, BBC\nRufael Mekuria\, Lead Research Engineer\, Unified Streaming \nModerator\nJörn Krieger\, Freelance Journalist \nPresenters’ bios \nKlaus Merkel joined rbb in April 2021 and actively contributes to the development of the standard and its practical application. From 1991-2021 Klaus had been employed at IRT where he was engaged in working groups for the definition and market introduction of open and interoperable platforms for interactive TV. He was deeply involved in the launch phase of HbbTV in 2009. \nStephen Perrott is a Senior Engineer with 20 years’ experience in the BBC’s Research and Development department. His current research includes IP delivery of media\, in particular Adaptive Bitrate systems and the use of MPEG DASH and represents the BBC on these topics in DVB and MPEG standardisation activities. He has been closely involved in developing the media encoding and delivery chain for the BBC’s UHD trials. \nA recording of the 1-hour webinar is available on our YouTube channel.
