What are the Benefits of Being a Member?

There are many benefits associated with being a member of the HbbTV Association.

By participating in the development and implementation of the HbbTV Standard, Members are able to help shape the future of HbbTV.

By sharing knowledge and market experience HbbTV Members work together to ensure specifications continue to meet market requirements while supporting innovation for the delivery of future TV services.

With widespread recognition across the industry and ever increasing support from the leading players, HbbTV membership delivers prestige by association and results in networking opportunities for those involved.

HbbTV has a number of different Working Groups that contribute to the development of the HbbTV association. Members are encouraged to join, follow and contribute to these.

Membership Options

Following the approval of a new membership structure at the General Assembly on 12 June 2026, the HbbTV Association now offers three membership categories to reflect the diverse range of companies active in the HbbTV ecosystem.

At the same time, the annual fee for Full Membership has been adjusted from €8,000 to €10,000, effective from the new fiscal year 2026/27 starting 1 July 2026. This is the first fee adjustment since the Association was founded more than 15 years ago, and reflects the growing scope of HbbTV activities, rising operational costs and the ambition to support HbbTV adoption in new markets.

Full Member

Full Membership is open to any company with an interest in contributing to the development and adoption of the HbbTV standard. Full Members have access to all HbbTV working groups, including the Specification Group, Requirements Group, Testing Group and Marketing & Education Group, and are eligible to stand for election to the Steering Group.

Full Members benefit from access to all member resources, the right to use the HbbTV logo, and a listing on the official HbbTV Members List.

Annual fee: €10,000

Small Member

The Small Member category is a new option introduced for smaller companies that are active and innovative in the HbbTV ecosystem but for whom the standard membership fee is not the right fit. It is open to companies with annual revenues of up to €3 million.

Small Members enjoy the same rights and benefits as Full Members, with the exception of Steering Group participation. They may however be invited to attend Steering Group meetings as observers. Small Members have full access to all member resources and working groups, the right to use the HbbTV logo, and are listed on the official HbbTV Members List.

Annual fee: €2,500 (25% of the Full Member fee)

Associate Member

The Associate Member category is a new option for companies outside the traditional HbbTV market that wish to engage with the HbbTV ecosystem and participate in focused industry discussions through HbbTV’s Application Interest Groups (AIGs). It is particularly suited to companies with an interest in specific application areas such as audience measurement, addressable advertising or identity and consent, without the need to influence the Association’s technical or governance processes.

Associate Members have access to all member resources (with the exception of the Test Suite), the right to use the HbbTV logo, and are listed as Associate Members on the HbbTV Members List. They may participate in and chair AIGs, but do not participate in the classical working groups or the Steering Group. Associate Membership is currently offered for a maximum of two years, though the Steering Group may decide to extend this duration based on the learnings from the AIGs.

Annual fee: €5,000 (50% of the Full Member fee)
