BroadcastAsia 2015 Highlights HbbTV as Momentum for the Standard Accelerates in Region

 

GENEVA — May 27, 2015 — The HbbTV Association, a global initiative dedicated to providing an open standard for the delivery of broadcast and broadband services through connected TVs and set-top boxes, is delighted to announce their participation at this year’s BroadcastAsia, taking place from June 2nd to 5th at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

BroadcastAsia International Conference is the one of the region’s most anticipated industry events, expected to draw more than 700 executive attendees from a variety of industries including Broadcast, Cable, and Satellite. Two members of the HbbTV Association have been invited to give keynote presentations in response to the growing influence of HbbTV in the region. Régis Saint Girons, Co-Marketing Chairman of the HbbTV Association and CEO of HTTV, will be speaking on ‘HbbTV as an OTT Enabler’ as part of Track C1 on June 2nd . Mike Tometzki, HbbTV member and Digital TV Labs VP of Global Sales, will also give a keynote entitled ‘Enabling Enhanced Service Interoperability in Broadcast Networks’ as part of Track T3 on June 3rd during which he’ll discuss testing HbbTV equipment and services.

“Over the past year interest in HbbTV in the Asia Pacific has grown enormously. Australia has already launched their HbbTV program and New Zealand is in the process of launching. Malaysia has announced their adoption of HbbTV and DVB-T2 for their DTT platform and Vietnam, Thailand, and Singapore are also specifying HbbTV for their DTT platform. Other nations, including Indonesia, Brunei, and Myanmar are in the process of evaluating HbbTV,” stated Klaus Illgner, chair, HbbTV Association, “We’re excited to share our expertise and advice on implementation especially considering the growing momentum of HbbTV.
