HbbTV Association unveils conference agenda of HbbTV Symposium and Awards 2019

Geneva, September 19, 2019 – The HbbTV Association, a global initiative dedicated to providing open standards for the delivery of advanced interactive TV services through broadcast and broadband networks for connected TV sets and set-top boxes, is proud to announce the impressive conference programme of the 8th HbbTV Symposium and Awards, taking place at the Megaron International Conference Centre in Athens, Greece, on November 21-22, 2019.

The annual key event of the connected TV industry, co-hosted by the HbbTV Association and Greek national broadcaster ERT, will provide an update on the latest developments in areas such as operator applications (OpApps), addressable TV, targeted advertising and hybrid DVB/IP services, discuss the experiences broadcasters, platform operators, service providers and hardware manufacturers made with HbbTV and look at the open standards’ future prospects in an increasingly competitive environment.

The keynotes will include a ‘state of the nation’ speech by the Vincent Grivet, Chair of the HbbTV Association, as well as a global TV market review, an update on the Greek market, the state of content piracy worldwide and the latest news regarding the HbbTV specifications and activities.

The focus of the panels will be on success stories through HbbTV technologies in major European countries, the current state of targeted advertising, HbbTV deployments around the globe, broadcasters’ and platform operators’ views on HbbTV, the value of HbbTV for operators, examples of how to increase the user experience, a look at other interactive standards on an international level and the role of HbbTV in future scenarios such as DVB-I and 5G Broadcast.
