HbbTV Association unveils location and conference programme of HbbTV Symposium and Awards 2021
Geneva, September 29, 2021 – The HbbTV Symposium and Awards 2021 will take place as an in-person event on November 24-25 at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris in France. This has been announced today by the HbbTV Association, a global initiative dedicated to providing open standards for advanced interactive TV services through broadcast and broadband networks to connected TV sets and set-top boxes, together with Salto, the French streaming platform and co-host of the event.
“With its great history and international orientation, the Cité Internationale Universitaire, centrally located at Porte d’Orléans, is the ideal venue to host an event where people and companies from different cultural backgrounds meet to build together a better TV for consumers around Europe. The prestigious Maison Internationale, the location’s largest building, provides an excellent base for our conference attendees, our sponsors and networking,” said Vincent Grivet, Chairman of the HbbTV Association.
Thomas Follin, CEO of Salto, added: “HbbTV is instrumental in enabling independent and national platforms like Salto to deliver the services expected by their audiences in a sustainable manner, and we are very happy and proud that the community behind this great ambition will gather in Paris. For sure, all French market players are eager to use this event to intensify their appropriation of HbbTV and its potential.”
The conference programme features first-hand insights by top-level executives and experts on new products and services, best practice examples and experiences and the latest developments and trends in the connected TV industry. Key topics include the deployment of advanced Targeted Advertising solutions, new ways to use the HbbTV OpApp, the role of Conformance Regimes to gain stability and growth, the latest specification updates and the role of standards in future environments.
The conference will comprise speakers from major companies such as Dolby, Dotscreen, Eurofins, ERT, Fincons Group, Irdeto, Kineton, Mediaset, Salto, SmarDTV, TDF, Tivù, Vestel, Vewd and Wiztivi. The conference is accompanied by an exhibition in which leading market players show their latest products and services.
The HbbTV Symposium 2021 will also host the 4th edition of the HbbTV Awards, showcasing and celebrating excellence and best practice in the HbbTV community. The prestigious awards ceremony will take place in the evening of the 1st conference day, November 24. Details on the awards categories and how to submit entries can be found in the Call for Awards entries (deadline: September 30, 2021).
The event will be organised in full compliance with the French Covid rules that apply at the time of the event. Currently these would include a requirement for everyone participating in person to be able to prove vaccination, recovery from Covid or a negative result from a recent PCR test. Details can be found on the registration page and at https://www.gouvernement.fr/info-coronavirus/pass-sanitaire.
Details on the conference programme, the HbbTV Awards and the event venue can be found at https://www.hbbtv.org/9th-hbbtv-symposium-and-awards-2021/. For industry executives unable to attend the in-person event in Paris, the HbbTV Association will offer an opportunity to watch the event as an online stream on its website.
