ABERTIS TELECOM and NAGRA-Kudelski Group will showcase their Multiscreen Television Cloud Service launched earlier this year and aimed at Broadcasters, Service Operators and New Entrants. The Service includes an HBBTV turnkey Solution and enables catch-up TV and VOD services with different business model (AVOD, TVOD and SVOD).The system relies on building blocks from ABERTIS TELECOM, NAGRA and strategic partners, fully operated and monitored in ABERTIS’s TELECOM’s industrial datacenters.

Supporting HbbTV on a range of set-top box platforms, Broadcom will be demonstrating HbbTV integration on the Broadcom BCM7356 40nm satellite set-top box system-on-a-chip at IBC 2012. Broadcom’s solution also integrates Tara Systems Inaris DVB solution and Opera software’s browser technology to accelerate the timeto-market for HbbTV compliant devices. Broadcom is committed to designing platforms that securely deliver broadcast, broadband and Over-the-Top content and services, enabling viewers to enjoy premium video, Internet and Apps anywhere.

CreNova Technology, supplier to worldwide A brand OEMs and Operators has implemented an Opera based HbbTV retail strategy, offering set-tops that will enable consumers to access a range of advanced services, including interactive TV advertising, VOD and catch-up TV. Dolby Laboratories Hall 2 / Booth A31
Dolby will be showcasing a scenario where a broadcaster announces availability of video with 5.1 Dolby surround sound on HbbTV. This demonstrates the value broadcasters can provide to their viewers delivering catch-up content via broadband with Dolby Digital Plus, providing the same immersive experience as on broadcast.

DiscVision Hall 4 / Booth B50
DiscVision presents the Genius HD twin tuner satellite receiver on the booth of its partner Altech SetOne GmbH. The Genius HD receiver combines a HbbTV stack with a complete web portal, the watchmi recommender technology and various other applications such as home control, DLAN client and server, remote programming and placeshift functionality.

European Broadcast Union Hall 10 / Booth F10
The EBU will be showing, for the first time, MPEG-DASH play out on a HbbTV 1.5 television. The demonstration will include both Live and On Demand sources with adaptive streaming using the new standard. Partnering in the demonstration are LG, with the first prototype HbbTV1.5 television supporting MPEG-DASH; Elemental Technologies providing the encoding; CodeShop arranged the packaging and delivery of the stream and the HbbTV application is triggered by a URL in the Transport Stream modulated by Dektek equipment.

Fortis Hall 4 / Booth B70
Fortis will show its products for HbbTV, an ST-based DVB-S2 satellite receiver that implements the HbbTV specification in its client software. Fortis integrates the hugely successful NetFront Browser from ACCESS with HbbTV signalling and Fortis’s proven DSM-CC client.

Fraunhofer FOKUS Hall 14 / Booth 230 (OIPF booth)

GlobeCast Hall 1 / Booth A29
On its booth, GlobeCast will be presenting its collaborative HbbTV trial with France24, Orange, and satellite operator SES. Participating DTH satellite TV viewers in Western Europe use their HbbTV-enabled connected televisions to interact with FRANCE 24’s linear and non-linear programming via their broadband connection – no additional equipment or hardware is required. The trial is led by GlobeCast using its broadcast experience and knowledge of connected television. GlobeCast is also providing ground services and uplink from its Paris technical operations center. The satellite feed is being delivered via the Astra satellite at 19.2ºE – SES’ leading orbital position in Western Europe. Orange is using the CDN expertise of its Smart Networks Program to drive the broadband delivery of this service. The result is an integrated solution that promises to deliver a robust experience for the end viewer.

httv Hall 5 / Booth B26
httv is a France and Singapore-based leading solution provider for interactive digital TV. The company works with the world’s most successful pay-TV operators and CE manufacturers DVB-S/C/T/T2, IPTV, hybrid, OTT. At IBC 2012, httv will showcase its HbbTV compliant STB turnkey solutions: last release, first commercial deployment on Televes, deployment on manufacturer GMI for HD+ SmartTV standard, etc. httv will also showcase its dedicated head-end products: “httvStream HbbTV” a play-out solution, “BAM” its broadcast application manager tool and “HbbTV Starter Kit” a simplified version of the play-out for non broadcast specialist.

Across Europe, Humax has been actively involved in many key digital TV initiatives, including the Germany’s HbbTV service, the UK’s Freesat and YouView digital TV service. At the IBC Humax will demonstrate its newest STB generations with HbbTV plus additional innovative technology and smart media consuming features.

IRT presents a comprehensive HbbTV showcase with “next generation” HbbTV applications using a generic framework for interfacing between TV and a smartphone or tablet PC. Also other innovative interactive HbbTV services are on display. Furthermore the IRT Broadcast Server will be demonstrated, a PC-based transport stream server for DVB, HbbTV and IPTV. IRT’s Broadcast Server (re-)multiplexes in real-time all required programme and service information and streams the transport data for DVB-S/S2, DVB-C, DVB-T and IPTV.

KAON will show its Broadcom-based DVB-S2 satellite and Cable receiver that implements the HbbTV specification in its client software. KAON integrates the hugely successful NetFront Browser from ACCESS with HbbTV signalling and KAON’s proven DSM-CC client. Ocean Blue Software Hall 14 / Booth 103 (Access booth) Ocean Blue will be demonstrating their HbbTV solution, together with ACCESS’ industry-leading HbbTV browser, based on the renowned NetFront™ Browser technologies. Ocean Blue’s advanced Sunrise DVB core is mature, robust and has been deployed worldwide. With support for multi-core CPUs and multi-tasking Ocean Blue software maintains its HbbTV browser agnostic approach to the market and offers various solutions. Ocean Blue can provide complete turnkey solutions for DVB-C, DVB-S2 and DVB-T/T2. Our Voyager MHEG-5 and the associated DSM-CC / AIT handler can be provided as modules to work alongside a third party HbbTV browser.

Optiva Media Hall 1 / Booth C81 (Nagra)
Optiva Media has developed several HbbTV applications that allow playing encrypted and clear pay content on different devices. We have integrated HbbTV applications with advertisement systems such as SmartClip and SmartAd and also with Google Analytics for application use measurement. We also have integrated with different payment gateways (PayWizard, bank PSTs, …). At IBC, we will demonstrate an HbbTV VoD portal that displays encrypted and clear HLS content in a Samsung television. The content is decrypted using a SmartDTV CAM.

S&T (Strategy & Technology) Hall 1 / Booth B30
S&T will show its TSBroadcaster2 for HbbTV: The second generation of S&T’s DSM-CC Object Carousel for DVB platforms, which includes full support for broadcast carousel playout of HbbTV applications and generation of associated AIT signalling with ASI or IP transport stream output.

Shenzhen Skyworth Digital Technology Hall 4 / Booth B61
Skyworth will demonstrate HD DVB-S2 PVR ready with HbbTV and interactive portal delivers VoD, Youtube, Weather, Facebook, Twitter etc. Microsoft playready DRM is supported. Conax, Irdeto and NDS CAS are available for different customers.

SmardTV Hall 1 / Booth C81
SmarDTV, in cooperation with Wiztivi, introduces a universal solution for Cable VOD on connected TVs. SmarDTV demonstrates a turnkey solution for Cable VOD in SmarCAMs (Conditional Access Modules) based on CI Plus and HbbTV. This solution allows Cable Pay-TV Operators to deploy their Video-on-Demand (VOD) services directly to any connected iDTV, without using a STB. The use of open standards for security and applications gives to operators the opportunity to customize their offerings in a homogeneous manner for any connected TV.

STMicroelectronics Hall 1 / Booth F40
ST will be showcasing HbbTV solutions on different classes of its products, including the STiH237 decoder family, which features an integrated DVB-S2 (Digital Video Broadcast-Satellite 2) demodulator and suits satellite hybrid boxes, as well as on the STiH273/STiH223 that include DVB-T (digital-terrestrial) and DVB-C (digitalcable) annex A/B/C demodulation. All these new devices support the full range of HD broadcast and multimedia codecs, hybrid and IP standards, as well as the latest security and content-protection standards, making a perfect fit for the HbbTV markets. HbbTV will also be demonstrated on ST’s latest ARM based architecture devices for Set Top Boxes and TV’s, respectively Orly and Newman devices.

TDF will be displaying a unique and innovative replay service on live programs by means of an HbbTV application This service called SALTO is available since July in France on the DTT five channels of France Televisions TDF will also showcase a set of uses cases for companion devices.
