The HbbTV Association to speak on HbbTV and Digital Switchover at International Summit on Digital Broadcasting – Nigeria

GENEVA — May 1, 2015 — The HbbTV Association, a global initiative dedicated to providing an open standard for the delivery of broadcast and broadband services through connected TVs and set-top boxes, is pleased to announce its participation in the International Summit on Digital Broadcasting in Abuja, Nigeria taking place on May 6th and 7th, 2015.

Régis Saint Girons, HbbTV Association’s Marketing Co-Chairman and HTTV’s CEO, has been invited to the Summit to discuss HbbTV and the Digital Switchover on May 7th. He will discuss the value that the open standard will have on the African TV industry in the context of the Digital Switchover. He will also give a demo showcasing available HbbTV services.

“HbbTV is seen as an important part of the ECOWAS/CEDEAO Digital Switchover, which covers most western African countries, and interest in the specification has steadily been growing. Currently HbbTV is being deployed in Senegal, Madagascar, Mauritius, and Namibia. South Africa and the Ivory Coast have also expressed interest in the specification,” stated Regis Saint Girons, Co-Chair of the Marketing group and Board member of HbbTV association. He added, “We are thrilled to speak at the International Summit on Digital Broadcasting as we see it as an ideal opportunity to provide insights on HbbTV and best practices on the Digital Switchover to an African audience.”
