Test and Conformance Applications (TaCA) – improving interoperability via reference applications

Session goals:
At last year’s unconference the Test and Conformance Applications session laid the foundations for what is now an HbbTV Study Mission Group (SMG) which had its inaugural meeting earlier in the year. The SMG hopes to feed back to HbbTV a set of recommendations in the next 6 months so this is a great opportunity to widen the discussion to understand what unmet requirements are burning on people’s minds!
I propose to open up the discussion on Test and Conformance Applications with the following suggested topics:
- If there are test applications being used by different platform operators for local device testing and what requirement are these meeting?
- How HbbTV managed Reference Test App(s) can be made available to members and what features are needed by different territories?
- The possible business arrangements for the development, maintenance and licensing of HbbTV-managed Reference Test App(s)
- Automation tools available to reduce the test burden on device interoperability
