Excellence in HbbTV Audience Measurement & Analytics
This award recognises excellence in the use of HbbTV to enhance audience measurement for television services. HbbTV is increasingly being deployed in markets around the world to provide richer audience insights, improve measurement accuracy and unlock additional value from both traditional broadcast and advanced television services. Introduced for 2026, this award celebrates innovative HbbTV-based audience measurement solutions that demonstrate technical excellence, practical implementation and measurable benefits for broadcasters, advertisers, measurement providers and the wider television ecosystem.
This award is open to HbbTV-based live services, solution concepts, products and services that use HbbTV to enhance audience measurement. Entries should clearly demonstrate the role of HbbTV in the solution, the value it delivers and, where applicable, evidence of successful deployment, innovation or measurable outcomes.
Outstanding HbbTV Advertising Campaign
This award recognises an outstanding advertising or promotional campaign that has successfully used HbbTV to deliver greater impact, engagement and commercial value. It celebrates innovative use of HbbTV capabilities, including addressable advertising, interactive formats, enhanced viewer experiences, gamification, personalised messaging and campaign measurement, to create more effective advertising for broadcasters, advertisers and audiences. The award honours campaigns that demonstrate creativity, technical excellence and measurable results through the effective use of HbbTV technology.
To qualify for this award, entrants must clearly demonstrate how HbbTV was used to enhance the effectiveness of the advertising or promotional campaign. Entries should explain how the campaign delivered greater value and any innovative use of HbbTV capabilities that achieved measurable results.
Tools and services supporting advertising, not individual campaigns, should be entered into another category.
HbbTV Application Innovation Award
This award recognises the HbbTV application that best demonstrates innovation in the use of HbbTV to create new viewer experiences or unlock new opportunities for the television industry. It celebrates applications that push the boundaries of what is possible with HbbTV, whether through advanced interactive features, accessibility improvements, gamification, enhanced content experiences or entirely new services. The award honours applications that combine creativity, technical excellence and practical implementation to deliver meaningful benefits for viewers, broadcasters or the wider television ecosystem.
This award is open to HbbTV applications and prototypes. Entries should clearly explain what makes the application innovative, the challenge it addresses, how HbbTV has enabled the innovation and the impact it has delivered or is expected to deliver. Where possible, entries should include evidence of successful deployment, user adoption or measurable outcomes.
HbbTV Enabling Technology Award
This award recognises innovative technologies and services that enable the development, deployment and operation of HbbTV applications and services. It celebrates solutions that empower broadcasters, operators, developers and technology providers to deliver high-quality HbbTV experiences more efficiently, reliably and cost-effectively. The award honours technologies and services that demonstrate technical excellence, simplify the HbbTV service lifecycle or introduce new capabilities that benefit the wider HbbTV ecosystem.
This award is open to technologies, platforms, tools and services that support any stage of the HbbTV service lifecycle, from development and testing through to deployment, operation and optimisation. Entries should clearly explain what makes the technology or service innovative, the challenge it addresses, how it enhances the delivery of HbbTV services and the impact it has achieved or is expected to achieve. Solutions that contribute to a more sustainable media ecosystem, for example by reducing energy consumption, improving streaming efficiency or enabling more environmentally responsible media delivery, are also encouraged.
HbbTV Rising Star Award
This award recognises an organisation that has made an outstanding contribution to the HbbTV ecosystem during the past year. It celebrates companies that are relatively new to HbbTV and have demonstrated exceptional innovation, technical excellence, market impact or commitment to the growth of the ecosystem. The award honours organisations whose achievements have established them as emerging leaders within the HbbTV community.
This award is open to nominations for companies that have entered the HbbTV market within the last three years or have introduced their first significant HbbTV product, service or deployment during that period. Entries should explain why the company should be recognised as HbbTV Rising Star, highlighting its achievements, innovations, market impact and contribution to the HbbTV ecosystem. Where possible, entries should include evidence of successful deployments, customer adoption or other measurable outcomes. Nominations are welcomed from both the nominated company itself and from other organisations, including customers, partners, broadcasters, operators and other members of the HbbTV ecosystem.
Providers of HbbTV applications, services, technologies and solutions are invited to submit their entries through the online submission form. The competition is free to enter, and the website also provides further details.
The closing date for submissions is 18 September 2026. A shortlist of finalists will be put forward to a panel of industry experts who will select the winners.
The winners will receive their awards on 19 November 2026 at a gala ceremony held during the 14th HbbTV Symposium and Awards in Barcelona, jointly hosted by the HbbTV Association and 3Cat, Catalonia’s public media corporation.
